  • The World Twenty20 cricket is another tournament organised by the ICC (International Cricket Council) and is often abbreviated to the World T20 or T20 World Cup. It's twenty over format is relatively new to the cricket stage with the first World Twenty20 taking place in South Africa as recently as 2007.

    The idea of Twenty20 cricket was to have a faster, more action-packed format of the game that would have more mass audience appeal, especially to a younger generation. The tournament is hosted every two years and consists of 12 teams made up of all Test countries together with other countries that have to qualify. Points are awarded (2 for a win, 1 for no result and 0 for a loss) in the group and Super Eight stages before progressing to the knock-out stages. Rules exist for determining a winning outcome to each match.
